Invite members
Invite people to a team, pick their role and what accepting needs.
Team admins bring people into a team; organization owners bring them into the organization. Everyone else sees the Members page read only. The roles are explained in Organizations and teams.
Invite someone
- Open Members in the console's navigation. The tabs switch between the team and its organization.
- Click Invite people.
- Under How to add them, choose Send an invitation, type the Email address and pick the Role: Member or Admin.
- Click Create invitation.
They join the organization first, then the team. Harthelm mails the invitation when your installation sends mail. The dialog also shows the invitation link, once, with Copy link: send it yourself when mail is not set up or the mail failed. The link works for 7 days.
Pending invitations are listed under Invitations on the Members page, with their mail state. New link makes a new link and stops the old one; revoking an invitation stops its link at once.
What accepting needs
The invited person opens the link, signs in, and is in. The sign-in must use the same email address the invitation went to, and the identity provider must report that address as verified. A different account sees "This invitation is for another email address" and can sign out and use another one.
Invitations also show in the invited person's console, in the top bar, with Accept and Decline.
Add someone who has signed in before
Under How to add them, choose Add an existing user and type their verified email address. They are a member at once, without a mail.
Change a role or remove someone
On the Members page, change the role in the person's row, or click Remove. People removed from a team lose access to its workspaces; workspaces they owned wait for a new owner, and Git pushes from them stop until an admin names one.
Leave on your own row leaves the team. The last admin of a team, or the last owner of an organization, cannot leave or be removed; make someone else admin or owner first.
Give someone a role on one workspace
A team member is a Viewer of the team's workspaces they did not create. To let a colleague work in yours:
- Open the workspace and click Workspace access on the rail.
- Click Add role, pick the Team member and the Role: Editor to write code and run the landscape, Admin to also change settings and roles.
- Save. The role takes effect at once.
A role given here can only raise what the team gives. Organization owners and team admins are admins of every workspace already.
Hand over a workspace
The workspace owner's Git connection is used for its pulls and pushes. To hand a workspace over, open Workspace access and click Offer ownership on the new owner's row. They see the offer on the workspace and in their workspace list, and accept it; they need the Editor role and a Git connection to the repository's provider. Until then, the current owner stays.
