Harthelm 1.0.0
The first stable release of Harthelm: what it contains and what to know when you install it.
Released 2026-10-11. API version 0.10.0.
Harthelm 1.0.0 is the first stable release: cloud workspaces and hosting for a team, installed with one Helm chart on your own Kubernetes cluster.
What is in it
Workspaces. A code editor (VS Code in the browser) and terminals on a volume of their own, started empty or from a Git repository. A workspace can be off when unused: it sleeps after an idle time and wakes when someone opens it. Deleted workspaces can be restored for 7 days; sleeping workspaces can be archived and restored. See Workspaces.
Landscapes. harthelm.yml describes how to prepare and test the code and which services run it, with four
service types: steps, container, managed and forward. Sync applies the file, Run starts the services, and the
dev URL routes paths to them. Services can name the services they need, and profiles keep variants of the file. See
Landscapes and the harthelm.yml reference.
Managed services. PostgreSQL 17 and 18 as a managed service, created from harthelm.yml or the console, with
nightly dumps. Further providers can be added through the API. See Add a database.
Teams. Organizations, teams and roles per workspace, invitations by email, team quotas, and workspace ownership. See Organizations and teams.
Custom domains. A team's own domains, verified with a TXT record, with automated or uploaded certificates and routes that split traffic across workspaces. See Custom domains.
hart and the API. The hart command line and the REST API under /api/v1 do everything the console does. See
hart and the REST API.
Operations. A preflight check before every install and upgrade, a database dump before every upgrade, nightly
backups, hart admin doctor, Prometheus metrics, support for Helm and Argo CD, and an air-gapped profile. Images run
on linux/amd64 and linux/arm64. See Self-hosting.
Install
Follow Install. With the chart in your registry:
helm install harthelm oci://<your registry>/charts/harthelm --version 1.0.0 -n harthelm-system --create-namespace -f my-values.yamlKnown issues
All are fixed in later releases; install the newest one instead.
- The server and
hartin the workspace images report the versiondevinstead of1.0.0. The chart'sappVersionis right. Fixed in 1.0.2. - The nightly platform dump contains an extension entry when the database has
pg_stat_statementsenabled, and a restore as the database's owner stops there. Fixed in 1.0.1, which also shows how to restore such a dump. - With Argo CD,
backup.preMigration.enabled: falseand a storage class that binds on first use (WaitForFirstConsumer), the first sync waits for the backups volume forever. Fixed in 1.0.1. - With the backup receiver off and such a storage class,
helm install --waittimes out, because nothing mounts the backups volume at install. Fixed in 1.0.2.
